Hi,
Color corrections do have harsh chemicals that strip the color and _can_ damage the cortex of the hair. BUT it depends on the condition of your hair right now. I had a color strip done before and it did NOT damage my hair, despite all the warnings i got from friends and coworkers. After the procedure you WILL have to either add another color or a toner. Right after the color strip your hair will be very spotty and brassy, also depending on how many times you colored your hair in the past. What color do you want to go back to? If brunette, adding a brown color should be fairly simple. But if you are trying to achieve a blonde, you will most likely have to bleach your hair somewhat and bleach after a color strip is very damaging. Be careful with this decision! I went to brown after color strip and had no hair damage. Have you had a consultation with the stylists? They should be able to tell you if your hair is in good condition to have it color stripped. Hope this helps.

Forgot to mention that you can have a few other easier ways to remove color.
1. Use shampoos that have strong detergents in them, for instance Prell or Head and Shoulders. You should be able to see some color in the water in your shower from these shampoos. But they can dry up your hair alot so use lots of conditioning. 2. Wash with hot water, that strips color. 3. Blowdrying strips color 4. Lemmon juice mixed in shampoo. The acid will strip color. Please know that these procedures can dry up the hair alot so lots of conditioning is a MUST! Especially with lemmon juice. Also, you will not see drastic results right away, but i think if you use Head and Shoulders for a month you should see quite a significant amount of change.

If you have a colour disaster either at home or in a salon, the first rule is DON'T PANIC.
We see many client who've had this experience, panic, and put more colour over the top. All this does is potentially add further damage and make it harder for a professional salon like ourselves to fix the problem for you. We see a regular stream of new clients arriving on Monday mornings having had a disaster over the weekend - we're quite used to solving these problems. Often what can seem like a total catastrophy is actually pretty simple to resolve if you know what you're doing. Ideally take your time, research different salons and choose one, such as ourselves, who has experience of regularly fixing this sort of situtation. As salon which knows what they're doing will a) calm you down, b) fix the problem and c) do so in such a way which saves the condition of your hair. Times like this are where the real value of a professional, experienced salon shines through. Hope it helps. Call us on 0845 88 88 333 for a free consultation. Andrew
