Howdy...

Ok, so after a number of years trying to perfect the messy look I am after something that has a bit more definition to it. I am a natural blond and after scowling through hundreds of photos and speaking to one of my friends, I have decided that I will get my hair highlighted. Now the problem is I have never had my hair highlighted and so I've been told one option is to bleach the ends and then style the hair like the images below.

I will post up an image tomorrow of my current hair and whether those styles above would work but any advice would be great, would bleached ends work with a blond base? Alternatives or ideas gratefully received. :)

Hey there,..

The style of colouring could work, but it may look a bit patchy. To achieve a cleaner more uniform look I would opt for foil high-lights.

depending on how bold you want to go ask for chunky lights for bold or slim and frequent for a more natural look.

Regards

Val

Thanks for that... The photos above have medium to long hair and while I still want to opt for that look, my hair isn't as long as shown above. Could the style still be done for slightly shorter hair?

I would guess also, with shorter hair I should opt for the slim foil highlights.

Hey there,...

Yeah for a cleaner look stick to slimmer foils.

However you must keep into consideration that the stylist will need enough length to work on,.., perhaps you can do a consultation before booking your hair appointment to check if there's enough length.

val

Got a hair appt with a stylists on Saturday so will see if I can have a chat with them before the actual haircut. My hair length is currently around 2 - 3 inches long so possibly a little short for the full look as per the above pictures.

Just out of curiosity, what would you suggest I use to keep such a style? I guess gel would be too heavy or would I be wrong with that assumption, it has been also suggested that mousse should be used and likewise wax by different people(although I would think wax would be too weak for such style holding). What would you suggest I use for such a hairstyle???

Thanks for the help by the way... :)
