I came to your Salon 3 or 4 wks ago to have the Ionic straightening treatment. I was wary as my hair was not in top condition and having tried the Yuko system a couple of yrs ago, I was extra wary because despite claims that Yuko was gentle on hair it completely ruined mine and my sister was told never to have it done again because it was so damaging. Now I know all chemical straightening has to have some detremental effects but the Ionic treatment has absolutely amazed me. My hair has never looked or felt this good, and it has never ever in my whole life been this easy to look after, and believe me I have tried many treatments over the yrs.I now actually feel normal, which only a fellow frizz head will understand.
- Thankyou ColourNation.

1) Agree with Val shouldn't be done on bleached hair.
2) Difference between the two system is small. IHR was first for coloured hair and gives (in our opinion) a softer more lifelike result.
3) the hair is like naturally straight hair after the process. Yuko can leave hair a little stiff from what we hear (IHR is softer and more lifelike on all hair types right upto afro).
4) regrowth depends on your hair and how it grows. Curly from the root is more noticeable obviously but for many people the curl doesn't show until a few inches of growth with takes anywhere from 6-12 months to show. You're also quite correct that the regrowth is where you'll see if your salon is any good at hair straightening - the poor ones make mistakes here which can be devistating.

Hi there,..

Well really I don;t know why your stylist advised straightening your hair, as bleach high-lighted hair can;t be straightened as it may cause the hair to frizz and/or even snap.

Regards,

Val

Hello, I have very thick hair that is straight on top but waves/ slightly curls underneath. It takes forever to dry and, unless I spend aged blow-drying it, looks messy. I also have half a head of highlights, which I have had done every three-four months for the past two years. I have never used straighteners.
My hairdresser recommended the Yuko system to me but after doing some research online I have a couple of queries: 1. can yuko (or IHR, haven't really worked out the difference) safely be used on highlighted hair? 2. does the hair end up ramrod straight or just nicely styled (ie like it is after a good blowdry)?
3. the negative stories I've heard about this treatment usualy happen in the `touch up' stage- with my kind of hair, how noticeable is regrowth?
Many thanks in advance for your replies!
