The person who started up Nanomax was only a partner in the main distributorship for Tanagra and was not an employee of Tanagra itself. Tanagra is the manufacturer and the main global distribution company is a separate body.

The point I was trying to make is that Nanomax is attempting to gain market share by spreading misleading information rather than letting their products do the work. Tanagra has absolutely no problem with Nanomax being in the market place, they welcome a competing product because it keeps everyone honest and on the ball.

I don't have an axe to grind, I just wanted to try to answer some of those rumours. In the end you are 100% correct - it will be the public who decide which product is the best. Nanomax has been in the US and South America for well over 2 years and it is still dwarfed by Tanagra ... I guess time will tell how the rest of the world goes.

Thanks again for your update it appears we can summarise thus:-

* Nanomax was developed by one of the orginal partners in Tanagra.
* It is a very similar product to Tanagra. (So much so that Tanagra manufacturers are very annoyed about it).
* It offers a wider range of treatments in one solution. (although Tanagra may have other services they are not applied as the orginal treatment).
* We've seen the Nanomax equipment to be more refined than Tanagra with our own eyes.
* Results are very similar between systems with regards to hair repair (hence Tangra's annoyance) but Nanomax has more treatments available and more options for repairing hair.

A reasonable man might then think it logical to call Nanomax an upgrade on Tangra's abilities even if it officially isn't? Like a Mini Cooper to a Range Rover could be seen as an upgrade. They aren't from the same company and may not be built for exactly the same purpose but the Range Rover has extra features and allows you to do more?

Obviously we have an 'axe to grind' because we're now promoting Nanomax in the same way that you have an 'axe to grind' in having a Tanagra distibutorship which you may have spent a lot of money on and which may not now have much value should Nanomax been seen to be a superior product.

Unfortunately customers won't worry about who is right or wrong just which product works best and gives the most options. It's similar to the concerns of Biolustre who've also contacted us about discussion on the forum upset that their product has not been favourably reviewed by us.

I think we have set the record as straight as we can and it'll now be up to the public to decide.

In the UK for now Nanomax is the only option available.

Thank you for your reply. There is quite a story behind the whole Nanomax / Tanagra situation and for the record I personally know the UK Nanomax distributor and also the Tangra Manufacturer.

Several years ago a third person was made a partner in the main Tanagra distribution company in Brazil and his main region of distribution was Mexico. About 1 year into the relationship this third partner stopped ordering Tanagra product and the other two partners became suspicious of his behaviour. Sure enough in a major hair expo in the US later that year, the two remaining partners stumbled across a Nanomax exhibit and lo and behold it was their third partner with a product similar to Tanagra! The relationship between the remaining two partners and the Nanomax creator is not amicable in the least. Fortunately the Nanomax creator was NOT able to get his hands on the Tanagra formula but instead has created his own range of hair treatments. It is true that Nanomax has a larger range of hair treatments but Tanagra itself is a much bigger company with a very large number of other unique products and not just the permanent hair repair system.

Andrew, we distribute Tanagra around the world and we are finding that the stories being fabricated to the various hair salons are quite disturbing and they all appear to be coming from the UK. With regards to your previous posting there are several points that I would like to shed some light on.

Firstly, the UK distributor may have been to Brazil to deal with the manufacturer but its the Nanomax manufacturer he went to see and not the Tanagra manufacturer. As far as the UK distributor telling you that Nanomax is an upgrade well thats simply his opinion in terms of what he is now selling.

The statement about the UK distributor using his exclusive deal to leverage a Nanomax contract is quite amusing. The UK distributor was approached by Nanomax at an opportune time when no Tanagra products were allowed into the UK because the new EU chemical documents were not yet available. Also the UK distributor can not ever use the threat of "buying zero Tanagra" because the validity of all Tanagra distribution contracts are governed by quota levels .. so putting it simply, no orders = no distribution rights.

Late last year I was approached by the Nanomax UK distributor and in an attempt to get me to become a Nanomax distributor was told some interesting points about Tanagra that were totally false ... some of which I have seen in this forum. For the past few months I have kept quiet and have tried to ignore the circulating rumours but I can no longer sit back and watch a competitive product try to actively destroy the Tanagra brand by spreading such misleading information.

I would be more than happy to answer any questions people may have and also equally happy to receive some feedback on the matter.

Thanks for your informative post.

We posted what we'd been told by our distributor who'd actually been to Brazil to do the negotations with the manufacturer.

You may well be right that they haven't said in materials that Nanomax is an upgrade to Tanagra.

What we've seen from salon experience is that Nanomax Intense and Repair and very comparible to Tanagra's results and the equipment used for the treatments does appear to be more advanced and well made. Add to this the fact that Nanomax has more treatments and it seemed reasonable to believe as we'd been told that it was an upgrade to Tanagra.

But until we can be sure of the position we'll moderate information to reflect your new information.

We had heard some rumour about the Chemist for Tanagra becoming disillusioned with the lack of development on Tanagra and so starting development on a new product (Nanomax) which we were told was then developed and spun-off by the parent company as a seperate product. We were also told the UK distributor used their exclusive Tangagra deal to leverage a Nanomax contract (if you don't let us have it we'll buy ZERO Tanagra so everyone looses). So it all seemed to add up.

But thanks for the update. If anyone else has a view please feel free to post your thoughts.

My name is Gerald and I am a Tanagra Distributor to many regions of the world. There has been much confusion about the Tanagra / Nanomax products and I hope that I can set some of these stories straight.

Firstly I can say that Tanagra is NOT Nanomax and that they are indeed very separate products and companies. Nanomax was formed several years ago by one of the main distribution partners who decided to produce his own line of hair treatments.

Now several months ago the EU health regularity body changed their rules for documentation needed for importing chemicals and unfortunately the manufacturers of Tanagra in Brazil have only been able to produce these new documents this month. The supply of Tanagra into the UK had ceased since August last year and hence the distributor in the UK has now looked for an alternative product - hence the introduction of Nanomax. The UK distributor for Tanagra has simply decided to stop supplying Tanagra and now supplies the Nanomax range. For those that need a little more convincing then I suggest you check the Nanomax website and try to find any mention on it being "an upgrade to Tanagra" or the "new Tanagra". This is quite illegal and hence its omission.

Tanagra will once again be available to the UK in the very near future.

There are many rumours circulating about Tanagra and Nanomax but one in particular is worth mentioning, and that is regarding the Tanagra chemist. He is in fact the owner and inventor of the Tanagra company and hair product range and is not working for Nanomax.

It is quite disappointing to see the amount of misleading advertising being promoted around the world by several people (both intentionally and unintentionally) just to give Nanomax and other products some undeserved attention. All the products are very good in their own right and some people will favour certain treatments over others.

Tanagra was the first Permanent Hair Repair treatment in the world (even the Nanomax website states this) and will continue to development its products to remain at the forefront of permanent hair repair systems.

If anyone has any questions then please feel free to post them on this website. Andrew I would be greatly interested to know your opinion on the matter because you have mistakingly mentioned several times that Nanomax was previously called Tanagra ...
