Hi Katie,

You are right comparison is diffulicult because not many people have had both systems done and those who do may blame a second treatment for a poor result when actually the first straightening may not have been performed correctly which becomes more visible on second application.

Here's what we can tell you:-
1) We chose the IHR system because it was the first straightening system to be kind enough on hair to be used on coloured hair. - Our clients tend to like colour ;) and therefore this was the best system for us.
2) The results we have seen from IHR have been softer and more lifelike. Yuko has been said to leave hair a little stiff.
3) We have many clients who have previously had Yuko and then swapped across to IHR (Bio Ionic as it's know in the US).
4) With both systems the experience of the stylist is actually the determining factor for success.
5) We have done hundreds of successful IHR straightenings
6) we have clients who are onto their 8th straightening with us.
7) For me the best moment is when clients leave the salon they're touching their hair and can't believe that it's really the same hair they bwalked in with and that they really get to take it home.
8) Ultimately success is guaged by how the hair is after 3 days. We say that it will be like having naturally straight hair, people with naturally straight hair may need to do a little work to get rid of the effects of sleeping on the hair for example but much much less than curley hair and for many 'wash and go' is possible.

In terms of rain and frizz if you read through some of the customer comments one of our clients mentioned that not having to worry about frizz and rain has been a great benefit of the IHR system.

Hope this helps and of course you're welcome to come in for a free consultation where we can look at your hair and assess it.

Andrew

This is a common problem - cheaper is rarely better when talking about hair straightening. You're paying not for the materials needed to do the straightening but for the experience and expertise of the stylist doing it.

As we've said elsewhere ask you salon how many straightenings they actually do (we've done hundreds). Fo a stylist watching a training video is not enough to deliver successful hair straightening.

Your problems are all down to the experience of the stylist who did your straightening. And as you can now see there's no easy route back when things go wrong.

hi i wanted to ask u a question i had bio-ionic retexturising system on my hair a week ago they say you should wait atleast 3 days to wash it, i waited 8days just to be on the safe side..althought i left the salon and my hair was so lovely and soft and straight and looked really healthy, but after washing my hair my hair i expected it to remain straight but it was wavy and dry(i did have loose curly dry hair which had been coloured a month before)and i am very dissapointed as i paid 200pounds to get it done. I did buy the repairing intensive condctioner from the salon after my treatment and i also used serum but it was stil wavy and lifeless ..i have had to blow dry it straight which i was hoping to avoid if i left it to dry naturally it would like like it had been crimped..please help what can i do?also my hair is very long to my hips thanks

'Ionic Hair Retexturisation' vs 'Yuko Straightening'?
G_Katie
I am completely confused between whether it would be best to have IHR or Yuko straightening done on my hair. It is very curly and similar to the picture posted on another persons entry (sorry i don't know who but i've just read it. I have been reading reviews on both treatments for the last week and they all have people saying that one is better than the other!!!
Does anyone with really curly hair have experience of both(and the regrowth of curls that i am worried about looking bad- particularly when it rains)and could recommend me one that they have first-hand experience of?

Thankyou!!

Because we have a good team, all full trained, we can normally fit you in within a few days and if you're very lucky sometimes sooner. :)

I don't know why anyone should have to wait months...

To update this thread a little based on our experience:-

Firstly IHR / Ionic Hair Retexturising / Bio Ionic straightening are all the same product.

1) IHR was the first permenant hair straightening system to allow processing of coloured hair. They patented their way of protecting the hair.
2) Yuko can leave the hair more stiff and lifeless while IHR leaves the hair soft and life like. We see customers everyday who leave the salon amazed at the results and the fact they can 'take it home' Although this system is not designed for afro hair we've also had considerable success on afro types of hair - although particularly tough course hair may not work well (this system was designed for european hair).

Always check the experience of the salon who performs your straightening. Any system, yuko, ihr, wellastrate, applied by an inexperienced person can seriously damage your hair. Ask any salon you consider how many straightenings they do. We do straightenings day in, day out, so we know all the tricks and techniques to get you the best results for your hair.

We would warn you against trying anything like this at home because the implications of getting it wrong can be very bad - it can take your hair months or years to recover from a really bad job.

We offer a free consultation with no obligation just call us on 0207 836 8883.

Hope it helps

Andrew

Hi there,

There's obviously been some confusion here.

The stylist was right in what they said... to a point. If your friend had arrived in salon with two inch long hair and asked wether he could have his hair straightened the answer would be that he would need to wait for his hair to grow longer. At two inches it wouldn't have been long enought for us to achieve a good result for him.

Perhaps it wasn't made clear that he wanted to go back to his two inch cropped style afterwards.

You are also right in that any new growth hair will still be curly. Customers will typically need to return every 6-12 months for a regrowth straightening (which just straightens the new hair) we offer a discount for this treatment after the first.

Hope that helps clarify (sorry if your friend's hopes were raised)

Andrew

I have a friend that has been told by your salon that he must grow his hair at least 10 inches for your straightening process to work. The assumption is that once he has this mass of 10 inches of hair straightened...he can get his hair styled in his normal medium cropped style...about 2 inches or less all over and his hair will continue to be straight. I tried to explain that the roots will wave as they grow out...but he is convinced that this is not true because of a session with one of your consultants. I'm a cosmetologist and know for a fact that the only thing that will continue to straighten his new growth is the weight of the newly straightened hair which is very misleading. How is he making this assumption and am I correct about my experience with hair straighteners. For the straightener to continue to straighten...it would have to change the hair follicle ...which we know is not possible. Thank you for your feedback.

Absolutely 100% - this is the sort of hair many of our customers will have.
