Re: 'Ionic Hair Retexturistaion' vs 'Yuko Straightning'?
G_Anonymous
I had the yuko hair straightening last month!! My hair was really really curly and frizzy hair. Now when i wash my hair, it is so straight.

But i still have to blow dry and use straighten. It take me 20 mins in all!! It used to take me nearly 2 hours before i had the Yuko straightening System. It is still not 100% straight. The ends are a little frizzy, but i am please it only take me 15-20 mins in all.

But i am going back in to October have the Yuko System again! Some people told me the it would be better the next time round and don't use thier straighteners. Is this true? Has anyone had yuko done twice?

Many thanks

Natalie

HI Anita,

A world of wash and go, is always what we aspire for, but unfortunately for most of us it is pretty much a fantasy world!

Solutions such as IHR straightening, perms, relaxers, ceramic irons, have all been sent to our rescue, but the reality is that we will often need to do some form of styling to create our desired look,...and that's when our wash and go dreams are shattered!

The style you are searching for, indeed is a very nice, elegant but not too fussy style, but unfortunately, permanent straightening is gonna make it go straight, and give you a bit of a hard time with your flicks, while something like X-tenso, will be fine on your flicks, but then you'll have to work on the rest!

So really and truly, here you are stuck over the style more than anything...

Might be time to admit that great hair, will always need some form of styling!

Regards,

Val

Re: 'Ionic Hair Retexturisation' vs 'Yuko Straightening'?

Hi All,
I have been doing some research into hair straightening to choose the sytem which would suit me best. The hard bit is that I live in Gloucestershire so can't call in to the salon for a consultation.
I am over 50 and have had a boyish crop for 35+ yrs as I hated my curls! However for the last 18 months I have grown it as I am desperate for a change. I have trimmed it a little to keep the split ends at bay, I have kept it in good condition and avoided brushing and combing to allow the curls to shine but somehow they haven't. That is they still seem a little frizzy at times but everyone else loves them except me.
The fact is I am a classical look sort of woman who now has hippy style wild curls! I have covered my grey with an over the counter permanent colour which looks fine. Today I tried a straight style with the straighteners, shoulder skimming with a side parting, tucked behind the ears and a little flick up at the bottom. For once in my life my hair reflects the inner me! Smart, classic, elegant.
Here's my dilemma. I want straight, glossy hair with a little bounce and flick ups at the ends! From what I have been told the Yuko system would be pump straight which on me would drag down my featues and make me look older. Is the IHR system the same or can some movement be incorporated during the retexturisation process? I am a nurse and need a wash and go style, I don't want to have to put back in the curl to get flick ups!
I have read of the L'Oreal X-tenso treatment and wondered if the results would be less extreme and suit better although I do want my hair straight until you get to the ends. Do Colournation offer the X-tenso treatemnt can anyone advise which treatment would seem to suit my needs?
Does any one else have any relevant experience that might help? Apologies for the long e-mail and many thanks in advance.
Anita

your hair can get damaged by too much use of straightening irons like GHD - also GHD irons although very good don't allow you to vary the temp - and they could be too hot for you. You can also get a heat protector spray which will protect your hair from your irons. Also look at the new wet(damp) to staight products just coming out.

Finally IHR vs Yuko? Different people have had different experiences. We just had the following review in from a customer yesterday for example:-

Hi Luiz,

I came to your salon on 6 November for IHR treatment. I have left writing for a couple of weeks to see how I got on with it and...

I love it, it is so easy to manage. I can wash and dry it in 10 mins and look like I just walked out of a hair salon. I can't however find how to put my comments on your noticeboard on the web site so I thought I would send them to you and maybe you can transfer them.

I have already recommended you to all my "curly/wavy/difficult hair" friends as they can see how much happier I am having had the treatment. It is something I have wanted for ages but have been too scared to try. It was a pleasure being in your salon for nearly 6 hours. The time passed very quickly as all your staff made me feel comfortable and very well attended to. It is only a shame that not all hair salons have such inviting and comfortable surroundings and staff. My hair is wonderful and I am no longer depressed in the morning if the weather is rainy or damp as I know that my hair isn't going to become in the least bit frizzy! My little boy and girl spend lots of time just stroking my hair and all the "school run mummies" have commented on how wonderful it and also me now looks.

Thank you once again to you and all your staff and long may you all be around to help us poor curly haired women/men.

Look forward to seeing you for the regrowth!

Which system is best for you really depends. IHR works on coloured hair where as Yuko could only be done on 'virgin' hair. IHR in our experience also produced smooth silky results - I always notice customers flicking their new straight hair like they can't really believe it's their hair.

I guess this forum allows you to hear from others and work out which system will be best for you.

Andrew

So how comes you had to have the Yuko system done twice? and how long was there in between the 2 treatments? I really am desperate to sort my hair out cus its really getting me down now. Its in the worst condition possible..frizzy, fluffy, split ends, dry, damaged...to name a few! Im fed up cus it just won't grow anymore and i long for really long hair. Instead it just snaps off and when i wash it loads seems to come out...any ideas why that is???? Its getting a bit worrying now! I use my GHD's so much, proabbly at least twice a day because they straighten perfectly but then i go outside and it goes kinky again. Really don't understand this? Someone please give me some answers and help as to what to do and the best form of action?!

Hi there!

I had yuko system done twice, my hair was straight, silky and beautiful ( I'm having permament colour), then I wanted to try IHR (wasn't cheaper, as I thought). My hair become very dry, frizzy and didn't even go straight, they offered me to do it again, but I just gonna go to fox it with yuko system next time. Don't belive, that IHR is better, because is not!

sorry for the delay in answering we missed your post :)

The price depends on your length and the thickness of your hair. For an accurate answer you're best bet is to visit us for a free consultation.

Generally if your hair is skimming your shoulders we'd class it as mid to short. If it's below your shoulders it would be long. Then we consider how thick your hair is.

I can't tell you how excited I am about this!! I'm one of those "that would change my life" types, after years of struggling to tame thick fuzzy hair.

My hair is just below my ears if not straightened, and when I've attacked it with my straighteners it's just skimming my shoulders. What length would that be and how much would the treatment be? And is there a waiting list? Questions questions questions!

I'm really struggling to answer your mail because I can hear the pain(?) in your message. I know that sounds OTT and I'm sorry. But it just rings so true with the comments we get from the customers who come to us for the treatment.

I don't normally post customer comments because I'm pretty sure no one would believe the reactions we get. An example (and perhaps an extreme) was from a young woman of 30 who was almost dancing around the salon when the treatment was complete. She said and I promise I quote 'This has changed my life. I've been a prisoner of curley hair for 30 years and now I'm free'. I know, I know, it sounds to much and that's why I've not written it before, but it really did happen.

I'm afraid I don't know of anywhere offering the Hair Repair Clinic outside London. (Although there are plan for ColourNation to expand beyond London in the coming months). Where are you based?

Many of our customers for IHR and Hair Repair Clinic do travel from all over to reach us, Germany, France, Scotland, Cornwall to name just a few. I guess when you compare the rail fare to the treatment cost it's not so big a deal and because of our central location (including NEW Covent Garden Salon) you can combine some shopping with your treatment.

Regarding highlights and colour in your hair with IHR we recommend not colouring your hair two weeks before or two weeks after the treatment but you can then colour as normal.

A little more than I'd planned to write but I hope it helped

Andrew

That sounds really similar to me actually, I have really curly, frizzy hair and because I also dye it a lot to a lighter shade it's also dry and damaged, I'm very interested in this treatment hopefully I'll be able 2 get it done 4 my b*day. I hate my hair so much that I wear it up all the time and have always dreamed of having shiny, straight hair, I even have the GHD straighteners but still looks dull. Is it possible to have highlights in your hair after the treatment? And is there any other salons that offer the Hair Repair Clinic as I live far away from London but it sounds really ideal for me.
