can you colour over colour?
G_sara
Hi.

I have been having my hair highlighted for approximately two years. Usually I have a 12 0, 12 1 mix on half a head. At the beginning it looked natural but it began to look very chunky and block like, so on my last visit they used 7 0 (brown/dark blonde colour) and put highlights through my hair with this colour, in order to make it look more natural. when they finished it it seems like they have put too much of the brown in and my hair looks darker than I would have liked it. I was wondering whether I would be able to just have 12 0, 12 1 placed over some of the brown highlights, in order to lighten my hair again. Would this be safe to do?

thanks

Sara

Hi there...

unfortunately, you won;t be able to achieve the desired result just with acolour. To 'lift' (make lighter) the brown you would need to put bleach on it....or alternatively just let it fade, as it is bound to do so fairly quickly being the first application on blonde..

Get shampooing!!!..

reagrds,

Val

if you use a cream bleach powder you will be able to go over the brown. i use the exact same mix of 12/0 12/1 and had black underneath mine one time, didnt like it so iu sed bleach then coloured over it agen, it was perfect!

hi thanks for your message .you can use the 12/0 as this will dilute the dark colour but use an additional colour of bleach to create a lighter look with contrast ,you possibly might also need a toner after the hair has been shampooed but discuss this with your colourist .

please dont hesitate to book in for a free consultation here at ColourNation with myself neil or one of my colleagues on 0207836 8883

kind regards neil
