IHR-will it damage hair
G_j
hi,
I am looking to have the IHR straightening at this salon. However, I used to get my hair relaxed - i last had this treatment about 5-6 years ago. Unfortunately it damaged my hair awfully, and i don't think it ever completely recovered. I am not sure what products were used in this previous treatment. Do you think that I could still have the treatment despite this?

Also, do the products used in IHR or your Brazilian straightening contain formaldehyde?

Is there any chance of my hair becoming dry and snapping off if i have the IHR or Brazilian straightening? I try not to blowdry my hair in an attempt to keep it as healthy as possible as it dries out so easily- would blowdrying be essential for the maintenance of the straightening?

I live in the midlands so it would be hard for me to come in for a consultation, this is why I am asking you this on here so if you think it isnt worth my time to come in i'll know :)

My hair is VERY curly, however, it is quite soft to touch. It generally looks dry and has never seemed to grow past my shoulders.

Hi there,

The IHR and Brazilian are in fact very different systems.

The IHR is a permanent procedure while the Brazilian is semi-permanent.

With the Brazilian you would still need to blow-dry your hair as what it does is treat the hair with synthetic Keratin which relaxes the curl, and makes it a lot easier to manage and de-frizz - The Brazilian does have Formaldehyde but ta tiny amount around: 0.002 % (legal dose is 0.5%)

The IHR, is a Chemical-based straightening but it's a morre permanent solution, which will mean you will need a lot less styling to do (dependent on how thight the hair is).

With the IHR we usually do consultations to check if the hair would be suitable before booking a stylist out (the procedure takes around 4 -5 hours!)

We understand you live out of London, what we also offer is hair-by-sample...we would need a strand of your hair to test and then we can get back to you wth the result - it's important to have a full strand (from root-ish to tip) to test it well.

Also IHR can't be performed if the hair has bleach in it in ANY way....normal dye is OK.

Brazilian can be carried-out on any coloured (or not) hair.

I hope this answers your questions, should you have more fell free to contact us.

you can also mail the reception-desk directly at: salon@colournation.com

Regards,

Val
