Colour stripping
G_joey@barnes.us.com
Hi,

I have dyed my hair myself for quite a long time and as such it is quite dry and dark now - saturated with colour I think!

I would like to return it to a more natural colour (medium ash brown) and would like advice if possible please on the best thing to do! I have heard of a product called ColourB4 which strips out the dye so I can dye it again without it being too dark.

The colour I have used mostly up to now is Nice'N'Easy Natural Medium Brown and the last time I dyed it I used XXL Violet, so it is now a faded red tone on top and a very dark brown on the bottom half.

Any advice would be very gratefully received!

With kind thanks in advance,
Jo

Hey there,

To get to lighter tones you would definitely need to strip it wether with a stripper or bleach.. after which you would of course need to top it up with the new colour.

What you do need to keep in mind,..once you strip the hair you are bound to have red tones, so aiming for an ash brown is not very realistic I'm afraid...

Going lighter gradually might be a better solution, so moving to a golden/choclate brown first and then slowly go lighter, perhaps even by adding high-lights...

You also need to keeo in mind that if teh is a huge difference between the lighter and darker bits, they might need to be treated differently, rather than slapping the bleach on.... I definitely wouldn;t dare trying to do this without professional help!

Regards.

Val
