I used a home highlighting kit on my naturally medium brown hair. Its now just covered in horrible brassy ginger streaks when all I wanted was some nice simple bleach blond streaks! What can I do to get it back to normal? or make the streaks blond not ginger?! Help please!!!!

Home kits are always a risky business (which I know won't be much help now) they always make it sound so easy to do but as you've found it's not always that simple.

If the colour you've applied is semi-permanent it will wash out - if you wash it enough - this may reduce the ginger effect to a more manageable level.

If it's a permanent colour you're only real solution is to go to a professional salon. Colouring on colour is always a tricky business, your first colour will impact on the performance of the second colour so the result won't be as accurate as colouring on natural hair. That said you will be able to get a much more acceptable colour and result from a salon.

Acheiving the blond streaks you wanted will require bleaching out the ginger and then recolouring with blond. This is best done in salon with foils.
