Hey there...

unfortunately, what you have to understand is that a colour can;t make a nother dye go any lighter....

the only way to make something dyed lighter is by using bleach.

So the options are actually to either use bleach or go darker...

As for the dandruff shampoo story,...it can help to make a colour fade,..but certainly won;t eliminate yellow/orange tones....

Regards,

Val

ahh i have the exact same problem with my hair.
my hair is usually a dark blonde - light brown, but i recently wanted a light blonde colour, so i bought Clairol Nice'n'easy extra light blonde, and it turned a yellow/orange/goldy colour which i hate, my mum said she wont take me to the hairdressers to get it done so i tried dying it again with Garnier Extra Light blonde, and it did the same except lighter ends.

At my roots it is completley bright orange/yellow! i was told to use anti-dandruff shampoo, and to keep washing it, but i can't see this working very quickly. I was also told to put a light brown wash-out colour in to fade the permanent, but i don't want to ruin my hair, by continuing to die it!! i read the dishwashing liquid comment, but are you sure that works? i don't want it to ruin my hair!!... ahhhhh help!!

...go back to the first hairdresser and if it wasnt too long ago, u should expect no charge as the hairdresser didn't do what u asked...then the best thing would be a toner which she can put in. It can been used at different levels depending on how orange it is...If they make u pay, i would go somewhere else they only charge bout $20 for toner...(and make a complaint about the 1st salon- you'll probably get freebies hehe! )

I have this problem. i died my hair a sort of medium-dark blonde and i knew it had a little bit of red/orange in it but it turned very very orange. i went to the hairdresser and it died down a very little bit. i then got 9.1 ash blonde and that worked quite well. but i am still not completely happy with my colour as it still has a bit of orange in it and it is brassey. i reccomend that you use purple shampoo. and/or used an ash blonde colour or toner. this helped me quite alot. if you aren't sure wheter it will work on your hair and you don't want to buy the purple shampoo, try schwarzkopf silver toner which lasts around 6-8 washes and it is only around $4 per packet.

hey there...

Sorry for the late reply....

out of all your options,..the ash toner is the one mosi likely to rally help you out.

...The shaving hair option is always possible,...but i guess not ideal....

Val

hey there...

well the cutting out the ends will definitely sort the problem out.

However, If you are ready to cut those ends I would give bleaching them a try,..if they get too damaged you can always cut them after.

A dye or a tonr, will not help you to 'lift' (make lighter) the orange bits...

Regards,

Val
