Hey there,

It is not an impossible task,... but definitely a difficult one.

Going from Black to Red though is a realistic colour... the brightness of the red will very much depend on how much of the black is shifted..... so really you woul dneed to be ready not to achieve your super bright red, but start with something a bit more subtle.

being ready to cut out perhaps some of the ends were there's too much build up, would of course also help.

Looking forward to meeting you,

Reagrds,

Val

Colour Correction needed!! :-(

Hi!

I'm afraid that I am one of those people asking for the near impossible task of asking for my box dyed black hair to be lightened. I've been dying it black for over 10 years so there is a lot of build up on there (although I only ever do the roots and not full coverage). I'm desperate to go light enough to go pillarbox red, the brighter the better, but I'm scared you're going to say "no chance" when I come to my colour consult next week!

I tried to lift some of the colour myself using colour B4 and all though the top 4 inches have lightened to a mid brown, the rest is still very dark (actually seemed to lighten but has darkened considerably again over days since). I tried a strand test with 12% bleach but it barely made much of a difference except in the younger hair. Also gave off ALOT of heat which scared me off bleaching the lot.

Anyway, googling my scenario has told me I have to either grow it out or cut it out which is clearly not what I wanted to hear! Please tell me is there anything that can be done? Please make my day and say it might be possible to do at least something with it?

Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.
