Surfer looks do focus on un-kept looks,... but if you look at people such as Ms. Pettyfer, that is far from un-kept..

However going for a razor cut will help to create the messy style you are after, having the right product is also essential, go for a matt wax, or a clay, never opt for a Gel or other runny fluid type of products it will just make your hair look thinner.

If you can't afford an expensive stylist, at least search for a talented one,.. perhaps a junior in a good salon......a barber will not cut it.

Hi everyone I need some advice! I've been trying for years to get a hairstyle that I like but my hair just seems to be the type that doesn't want to do what I want it to..

I want the surfer look and I've found some styles that I like, but I'm not sure if they would work with my hair. Here's a picture of my hair at the moment (top of my head):



As you can see it is quite wavy, in some places curly, and I think the hairs are quite thin. It has a tendency to flick out behind and around the ears, which I find quite annoying.


I need some advice please, as to which one I could have.. and I can't afford an expensive stylist so I need to be able to give the hairdresser exact specifications (I've heard things about cutting the edges with a razor rather than scissors; zig-zagging it (what does that even mean?); layering (??) etc..these types of things please!).

I am in desperate need of help! Please, and thankyou!
