Hey there,
To get to lighter tones you would definitely need to strip it wether with a stripper or bleach.. after which you would of course need to top it up with the new colour. What you do need to keep in mind,..once you strip the hair you are bound to have red tones, so aiming for an ash brown is not very realistic I'm afraid... Going lighter gradually might be a better solution, so moving to a golden/choclate brown first and then slowly go lighter, perhaps even by adding high-lights... You also need to keeo in mind that if teh is a huge difference between the lighter and darker bits, they might need to be treated differently, rather than slapping the bleach on.... I definitely wouldn;t dare trying to do this without professional help! Regards. Val
