Hi Megan,

Most high-lights are in-fact done with bleach.

However I would say you should sit with your stylist and go through what your desired result is.

If you just want to go slightly lightetr than your natural colour you mat be able to get away with high-lift blonde colour instead of a bleach.

If in the end you still opt for thye bleach high-lights, a toner at the end tends to give a more natural effect.

Regards,

Val

Hi

I've booked an appointment at my local hairdressers to have blonde highlights put in my hair, my natural hair colour is dark blonde.

I've never had highlights before and my hairdresser suggested using bleach but I'm really worried. I want the highlights to look naural and would prefer if I could choose the type of blonde I want. Do all highlights have to be done with bleach or is there another way?

My worst nightmare would be walking out with ginger or bright yellow hair!

Hey there,

Doing your own high-lights can get quite messy, and if it goes wrong you can get those dreaded 'leopard effect' scalp, which ends up being quite expensive to correct.

From my experience of people doing their own high-lights it rarely goes well,.... I would definitely leave it to the professionals|!

Regards,

Val

Hey there,..

You probably might need a bit of a toner to tone down the harshness of the bleach.

If you think the colour is just too 'blockey' you can put some low-lights in your natural colour or just a slightly darker shade of blonde.

Speak to your stylist I'm sure they'd only be happy to help out.

Regards,

val

Got my ash highlights redone at the same salon I always get them done at.

But this time the colourist has left me with ash highlights all over, and 'x' of pure bleach on the crown. That has none of my natural colour nor the meddium ash blonde weave into it. And only the lighter ash blonde bleach colour.

And I don't believe they left the special silver shampoo wash on for the full 5 minutes either.

Hey there,..

Red and brown can look pretty good, especially if the shade of brown is actually quite dark.

If it's more towards a light brown you might want to consider a more copper tone, or or a more subtle red such as a Mahogany.

As a first timer, you could also opt for highlights round the fringe are and the underneath sections to get a feel of the colour first.

Regards,

Val
