Hi there,..

After testing various systems out there, we found IHR to be one of the milder forms of the permanent straightening systems on the market.

The other option would be the chemical fre Brazillian system but this is not permanent so it all depends on the results you are after.

YOu could perhaps come in for a consultation where we can take a look at your hair and see what would work best for you.

Consultations at ColourNation are free and with no obligation.

To book for your free consultation you may contact us on 0207 836 8883.

Regards,

Val

I have had matrix done 6 times and am happy with result but my hair has broken and is very dry. Would Yuko treatment be better?

I normally have the yuko straightening system, which leaves my hair silky smooth from the moment i leave the salon...however, the hairdresser left and no one else was trained to do it. Therefore i had to look for an alternative....I just had the matrix opti smooth done (this morning), and am so far dissapointed, as my hair has frizzed out, and feels and looks very dry. i cannot put products on it for 48hours and am worried it will continue frizzing. i normally pay around £220 or yuko, but paid £190 for matrix - in my opinion, yuko is much better!

Hi Sally,

Thanks for your contribution which I'm sure others will find useful.

There are so many factors which affect the outcome. The skill and experience of the stylist who applies the treatment is probably the biggest factor for success and therefore there's no way round a higher price. I guess it's a bit like paying insurance.

We had a client recently who compared Yuko to IHR, systems which cost more than Matrix and so should in theory be comparible, but again IHR (with our experienced team) was a totally different experience than Yuko had been. See below:-

I came to your Salon 3 or 4 wks ago to have the Ionic straightening treatment. I was weary as my hair was not in top condition and having tried the Yuko system a couple of yrs ago, I was extra weary because despite claims that Yuko was gentle on hair it completely ruined mine and my sister was told never to have it done again because it was so damaging. Now I know all chemical straightening has to have some detremental effects but the Ionic treatment has absolutely amazed me. My hair has never looked or felt this good, and it has never ever in my whole life been this easy to look after, and believe me I have tried many treatments over the yrs.I now actually feel normal, which only a fellow frizz head will understand. Thankyou ColourNation.'

You pay for what you get...

I would also mention that if your hair has been damaged and you're 'living with' the damage, consider coming in to see us we have several products, Nanomax and the new Brazilian straightening system which could help improve the condition while you wait for your hair to be ready for an IHR (which is still the prefered option).

Hi I thought I would contribute as I have had both of these treatments and I've found IHR to be the best by far.

I had IHR in London on 2 occasions in 2007 and each time had a fantastic result, the only drawback being the cost.

So when I saw Matrix Opti Smooth advertised early 2008 at a local salon for just under £200 less then I had paid for IHR I naturally went for it. I'm not sure if it was the stylist that applied the treatment incorrectly or the actual product but my hair really seemed to suffer post treatment and its still not in great condition.

I'm currently living with frizzy roots and trying to grow out the Matrix treatment whilst saving my pennies for my next IHR treatment.

If you have had Matrix before do not hesitate to switch to IHR, if your experience is the same as mine you won't look back despite the price difference.
