We would recommend going back to the salon and asking them to fix it for you. This is the safest solution.

The problem is that if you colour yourself and it all goes badly wrong it can be a much harder job to fix. To protect the health of your hair it's better to let a professional fix it for you and might not be as difficult as you might think.

It's easy to over react to a problem. Better to let a professional resolve for you and a lot safer for the health of your hair.

Yes there is a new permanent Brazilian straightening being launched. It's been called the permanent Brazilian because most people understand the term Brazilian and the benefits but really it's it's a totally new product and comes from the Japanese permanent straightening school of straightening (IHR/Yuko type).

I gives all the results we used to see from the first Brazilian Systems like defrizz, condition and straightness before the formaldehyde was removed. (And can be done on bleached and damaged hair).

But.. better yet the results of permanent. Only the new hair growth will need to be treated -- about every 9 months.

You really need to talk to your salon. Any decent salon will talk you through how to look after your type of hair extensions - different companies have different suggestions on how best to look after your hair.

If you have a colour disaster either at home or in a salon, the first rule is DON'T PANIC.

We see many client who've had this experience, panic, and put more colour over the top. All this does is potentially add further damage and make it harder for a professional salon like ourselves to fix the problem for you.

We see a regular stream of new clients arriving on Monday mornings having had a disaster over the weekend - we're quite used to solving these problems. Often what can seem like a total catastrophy is actually pretty simple to resolve if you know what you're doing.

Ideally take your time, research different salons and choose one, such as ourselves, who has experience of regularly fixing this sort of situtation.

As salon which knows what they're doing will a) calm you down, b) fix the problem and c) do so in such a way which saves the condition of your hair. Times like this are where the real value of a professional, experienced salon shines through.

Firstly if you want to have your hair coloured you MUST tell the salon that you've previously had a reaction so that they know to be very very very careful.

Yes in principle highlights don't touch the scalp so they are 'safer' than a tint which covers the whole head and skin. However even if the salon is trying to be careful and make sure the colour doesn't touch the scalp there's still a risk that you must accept that some colour could touch your skin and cause a reaction.

An IHR permenant straightening will totally straighten your hair.

A Brazilian straightening will dramatically reduce the frizz and might be your best bet.

In terms of the salon which caused the problem, most good salons in this position should be happy to discuss options with you.

Normally this will mean asking you to return to see a different stylist / salon manager who is neutral in what happened. This allows them to see what you're talking about. They may then be able to offer an easy solution which can fix the problem for you free of charge.

If a solution is not possible then you should put your complaint in writing to the salon owner to deal with.
