Nightmare colour!

Hi Val

Looking at your webwsite I'm really impressed and if anyone can help me it's definately you. About 2 months ago I had my hair coloured from my natural colour because it had started to go grey (which is ashy dark blonde), the colour was an all over tint and a couple of highlights in the fringe. The colour was ok but seemed to go like an orange colour when lightened by the sun.
I recently went to a salon and they coloured it again (the colour code was 7NGP) my hair turned out really light with an orange like glow, I wasn't happy - the stylist then suggested I go one shade darker so she put on it 6NP (i think it was). I was concerned about my highlights so she just wove them through again and put in foil. Now my hair is very dark brown and there is still some of the horrible orange colour, it's all patchy and down right naff!

Can you strip all the colour out and then put on a colour near to my natural colour as possible?

Hoping you can help?

Tracy

Hey there,

In relation to the topic Henna is definitely not an option!

But once we are on the subject of Henna...

Henna is a natural product, however the problem with Henna is that once you would want to change the colour it can react to different regular colours and the colour can turn into nothing like that shade you want (we're talking cases of Green, Lime and Puples!)

So if one starts with Henna, they'd better be ready to stick to it for life!

Regards,

Val

Hi there,

What you have to understand is taht we all have red tones in our hair, and teh darker one person is the more red tones there are.

Rec-creating a total flat 'red-less' colour is possible by using a lot of ash tones,..however once that colour starts to fade the red-tones will start coming out.

There are two ways to neutralize this,..and that is to tone it on a regular basis... you can do that either with a regular ash toner or with a silver shampoo which is obviously an easier method.

Regards,

Val

Hi there,

Well, tricky one,..teh colour you are happy with has actually happend only because of teh previous colour with XXL (basically teh Creme Gloss has simply toned the previous colour).. but the real colour that the creme gloss will give you as of now is what you are seeing at the roots.

Creme Gloss is a much softer colour than XXL.

At this point you would need to bleach up those roots, you could try using XXL, not sure is that woudl work though,..

If Creme Gloss gave you a softer look, you could opt to start using XXL and then a toner.

Regards,

Val

Hey Carrie,

I would not aim at being blonde right now!.... coz you are risking the only blonde right now will be on the floor!

I totally agree with the second salon and take it gradually goping lighter every few months, this will definitely the best way to keep your hair in a decent condition.

If you are in London come and see us for a free consultation,

HI there,

It might be a case that your scalp got more sensitive recently.

I would firstly chack with your regular salon if they have by any chance changed the brand of bleach they were using on your scalp.

If you had the test and came postive though, I would stir away from the full tint anyway.

Going for high-lights will be the better option for you at this point.

You could even opt for a more natural blonde with various shades which will make your re-growth easier to handle.

Regards,

Val

Please can someone help me?? I naturally have light brown hair but with a red tint to it, for the last 6 years i have been dying my hair dark brown / black but it doesnt matter how often i dye it the red tint always shines through whenever in natural light. i've had hair extensions before, but as the red tint in my hair always shines through my hair looks a different colour to my extensions. I'm desperate to have extensions put back in, but i cant do that until i somehow try to find a way of getting rid of the red tint in my hair, i asked the hair dresser who was doing my extensions to neutralise my hair, to get rid of the red tones but it either didnt work, or she didnt actually do it as she said it was in with the dye. i really need someone who knows what they are doing to advise me on how to get rid of this red tint in my hair, please help!!

Hello! My natural hair colour is dark blonde and for the last year I have been using Live XXL Ice Blonde to colour my hair. This has been amazing and has always given even coverage and lasted. However my roots were growing through last week and for a change I decided to use a differet product as the Live XXL was leaving my hair in poor conditon. I chose to use L'oreal Casting Creme Gloss. I intentionally chose this as it said it could be used on previously coloured hair and would lighten roots. The colour which I have been left with is lovely and it has left my hair in great condition. However it hasn't coloured my roots all that well and I have been left with rather dark roots. They are lighter than before colouring but it looks as though my roots need re-doing even though they were only done 5 days ago!!!

I am a bit stuck with what to do next. I can't really afford a trip to the salon to colour the roots, and don't want to use a different product as the colour I have been left with is lovely. However do I spend money on buying another L'oreal Casting Creme Gloss and re-doing the roots? Will this have any effect considering it didn't really do much to do my roots when I first used it?
